The attics above the Great Hall. Half of these 25 rafters hold up the ceiling
below, and the rest hold up the roof above.
Until mid 19th century, one set of rafters did both jobs, but someone noticed that wasn't working any more, so they called in a new engineer. This is part of the Secret Rooms tour, not to be missed for anyone going to the Palazzo |
