Heritage Quilts and Dear Jane

Mom's quilt

Her grandmother, Selina Fessenden (born Lewis) made it for her in 1922. Just the top. It lay in mom's cedar chest until 2003, when I finished it for her.

Though 80 years old, the fabric is like new

I love all these patches

The same grandmother made this quilt, for one of my mom's older brothers

It had a lot of wear over the next 50 years, until I claimed it when the cottage was sold

A few of the patches.

My grandmother, Florence Fessenden, patched some of the pieces; years later I patched more of them

Some of the fabrics are the same as in my Mom's quilt, but faded.
